Coldplay will be performing several sold-out shows in Vienna, Austria, this week at Ernst Happel Stadium, where Swift was set to take the stage earlier this month. Frontman Chris Martin and singer Maggie Rogers dedicated her song “Love Story” to those who were supposed to attend her concerts.
In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, by user @neilenore, Martin said: “If this is not good, please please don’t put it on YouTube because I don’t want to get in trouble with Taylor, okay?”
Martin added: “And uh, if you can sing with us, that would be wonderful, and this is a wonderful song.”

In the comments, Swift’s fans praised the band’s move.
“I love how supportive Chris has always been toward Taylor and the swifties,” @mdawn37 posted.

“Love him so much,” @90sfairchild added, as @TayvisHaze commented, “This is really sweet of him.”
@Madaelena13 shared: “The fact this is exactly 2 weeks since it got canceled it’s just pure magic. Love you Chris.”
This isn’t the first time Martin honored Swift with a song. While performing in Germany on July 20, just one day after the pop star performed in Gelsenkirchen, the “Viva La Vida” singer gave a shoutout to Swift.

“Now this is for Taylor Swift, because she left town. This is for all of you who feel sad today because Taylor had to go to the next city. So we sing this love song, this heartbreak song, and send it to Taylor wherever she is today,” Martin shared at the time, as Coldplay began playing their hit “Everglow.”
Swift’s three concerts on August 8, 9 and 10 were canceled after three people were arrested in connection with a planned terror attack in the Austrian capital. One of the suspects, a 19-year-old, pledged his allegiance to ISIS.
Omar Haijawi-Pirchner—Austria’s head of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence—said: “His goal was to kill himself and a large crowd of people.”
The “Cruel Summer” singer spoke out about the situation for the first time via Instagram on Wednesday after concluding the European leg of her tour.
“Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” Swift said. “But I was also so grateful to the authorities because, thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
Swift had five shows lined up at London’s Wembley Stadium prior to her tour’s hiatus. Swift defended her silence until now, saying that her goal was to keep her fans safe.
“I decided that all of my energy had to go toward helping to protect the nearly half a million people I had coming to see the shows in London. My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us.
“In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to,” she said. “My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”
In 2019, the Grammy Award winner revealed to Elle magazine that her biggest fear was a terror attack at one of her concerts.
Swift told the outlet: “I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds.”

Baseball icon Ozzie Virgil Sr – the first Dominican to ever play in MLB – dead of…see more
Ozzie Virgil Sr, the first Dominican to ever play in the MLB, has died.
He was 92 years old.
Virgil Sr. began his nine-year career in 1956 with the Giants (then of New York), who remembered him on Sunday with a tribute on X.
He later spent time with the Tigers, Athletics, Orioles and Pirates before wrapping up his career back with the Giants in separate stints in 1966 and 1969.
The MLB wrote on its official X account that it was ‘deeply saddened’ to learn of his passing.
Our thoughts are with his son, two-time All-Star catcher Ozzie Virgil Jr., and the rest of the Virgil family,’ they wrote.
Virgil’s presence in the MLB opened the door for many other Dominican players to follow suit.

After he finished his playing career, he spent 19 years as a coach with the Giants, Expos, Padres and Mariners.
He was born in Monte Cristo, Dominican Republic on May 17, 1932.
