Joe Biden Assures America, “I’m still in good shape, strong, and capable of running for president again.”
WASHINGTON – Even President Joe Biden’s supporters worried about his advancing age and mental acuity when he stepped into the House chamber in March to deliver his annual State of the Union address.
But Biden put those concerns to rest, at least temporarily, with a rousing speech that far exceeded the low expectations set in part by Republican attacks portraying him as a doddering and senile old man. The 81-year-old president was fiery, feisty and at times downright defiant.
Four months later, a much more subdued Biden sat down Friday for a television interview amid new questions about whether hfe is physically and mentally capable of serving another four years in office.
But Friday’s interview – aired exactly four months before the Nov. 5 election – did not deliver the same punch as his speech last March.
There were no career-ending gaffes, no egregious flubs that would force him to pull out of the race. But nor was there a defining moment that might bring closure to the current crisis threatening to end his long political career.
