Performer In Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show Detained After Waving Sudanese-Palestine Flag During Performance… Watch Video
During Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, 2025, a performer disrupted the performance by waving a flag combining Palestinian and Sudanese symbols. The flag bore the words “Gaza” and “Sudan,” highlighting the protester’s message. The individual, a member of the performance cast, had concealed the flag and unfurled it during the show without the knowledge of organizers.
Security personnel promptly apprehended the protester, who attempted to flee the scene but was tackled and detained. The NFL confirmed that the protest was not part of the planned performance and that the individual has been banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events.
The incident occurred during a performance that featured appearances by Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams, and included a segment where Lamar performed “Not Like Us.” Despite the disruption, the show continued without further incident.
