Kentucky sheriff's shocking link to chambers where judge Kevin Mullins was allegedly gunned down by top cop

The Kentucky court chambers where Judge Kevin Mullins was allegedly gunned down by local sheriff Mickey Stines had a dark history of sex crimes with links to both the judge and the sheriff.

A former deputy of Stines is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping former inmate inside Mullins’ chamber – where he told her there were no cameras, according to WYMT Now.

The former inmate, Sabrina Adkins, claims in a federal lawsuit that she could not afford to pay for an ankle monitor and did not want to return to Letcher County Jail.

Deputy Ben Fields coerced her into performing sexual favors so she could remain under home incarceration, according to a federal lawsuit in 2022.

Sheriff Stines was named as a defendant in the case and was scheduled to make a deposition on Monday – four days before he allegedly murdered the judge.
The lawsuit claims Sheriff Stines did not ‘reasonably respond’ to reports or suspicions about the sexual abuse and had a ‘deliberate indifference in failing to adequately train and supervise’ Fields, the New York Times reports.

It is unclear from the court documents whether Mullins was aware of the sexual abuse in his office at the time or whether he was involved in any wrongdoing, but the court documents do list him as someone with information in the case.

It is also unclear whether the sexual abuse case may have been a motive in the shooting on Thursday, when Stines allegedly walked into Mullins’ chambers and told staff he needed to speak to the judge alone.

He and Mullins then entered the judge’s inner office, closed the door and those outside heard a number of gunshots, according to The Mountain Eagle.

Stines then walked out with his hands raised and surrendered to officers, who placed him in handcuffs at around 3pm as Kentucky State Police officers found Mullins, 54, with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The sheriff is now facing first-degree murder charges, and is said to be cooperating with State Police investigating the incident, the New York Times report.
The shooting on Thursday temporarily put the local high school on lockdown, and rattled the rural community of Whitesburg.

‘This community is small in nature, and we’re all shook,’ State Trooper Matt Gayheart said at an evening news conference.
He added that there were cameras inside the courthouse, and all of the witnesses to the shooting will be interviewed by police as a motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Mullins had been appointed to serve as a judge in the state’s 47th district under former Gov. Steve Beshear in 2009.

He oversaw juvenile matters, city and county ordinances, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, arraignments, felony probable cause hearings, claims involving $2,500 or less, civil cases involving $5,000 or less, voluntary and involuntary mental commitments and domestic violence cases, according to a Letcher County website.

Mullins also gained recognition for his efforts to treat those with drug addiction rather than incarcerate them, starting a program in 2010 that allowed inmates with substance abuse disorders to enroll in inpatient treatment as a condition of pretrial release.

He was recently appointed to a state judicial commission on mental health and was previously an assistant commonwealth attorney for nine and a half years, focusing on drug-related offenses.

Stines, meanwhile, was elected sheriff in 2018 and reelected in 2022.
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman indicated Thursday his office will work with Jackie Steele, the commonwealth’s attorney for the 27th Judicial Circuit, as special prosecutors on the case.

‘We will fully investigate and pursue justice,’ he announced on social media.

The Kentucky Court of Justice has also said it is ‘in contact with law enforcement agencies, including the Kentucky State Police, and are offering our full support during this difficult time.

‘While the investigation is ongoing, we are committed to providing assistance in any way we can,’ the court system said on social media.

‘Our deepest sympathies go out to all those impacted by this tragic event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the community during this challenging time.’
Circuit and district courts, as well as the office of the circuit court clerk will remain closed on Friday following the shooting.

The Art Factory files for bankruptcy and cancels bride's wedding ONE WEEK before her big day after she….see more

A devastated bride was horrified to learn the venue she booked two years ago for her wedding filed for bankruptcy.

Ivanna Ramirez and Raymond Romero were all set to get married at The Art Factory in Paterson, New Jersey. Ramirez described it as her dream venue and picked out the chic industrial space, securing the booking by paying the $12,000 fee.

But in the days leading up to their wedding, the couple were horrified to find out via their event planner on September 5 that The Art Factory had filed for bankruptcy.

While initially in shock, the pair were optimistic their special day would still go ahead, with reassurance from the owners that celebrations were running into 2025.

But a worrying Instagram post two weeks before the wedding triggered waves of doubt, until a final blow on September 24 ruined all hope when the owners were ordered in court to stop hosting events.
Upon contacting The Art Factory for a refund, they were told they’d have to file a claim for settlement.

They also filed a police report in Paterson – but that did nothing to help their impending plans, with 104 guests preparing to visit the unavailable space.
David Garcia owns the industrial venue which was revitalized in 2018 through a loan from the 100 Mile Fund – which provides capital for a wide range of asset classes, with a concentration in the New York metropolitan area.

In the companies now-deleted Instagram page, they posted an emotional appeal to the disappointed couples, placing blame on the lender for ‘taking your dreams and your money,’ ABC 7 reported.

The outlet reached out to the president of the 100 Mile Fund, Billy Procida. He said he feels sympathy for the clients and that although the venue was great, it was poorly managed.

‘This is one of the saddest things I’ve witnessed in my 43-year career,’ Procida said.

The bankruptcy filing was triggered by a New Jersey Superior Court judgement issued last month against his business due to a $12.5million loan in 2018, court documents said.

The loan was meant to allow Garcia to do a massive renovation of the complex. But the judgement required the owner to provide rent and fees from his business to 100 Mile REIT Inc.

Rashee Rice's mom was accused of stealing months before alleged theft of a neighbor's… see more

Rashee Rice’s mom’s alleged parcel theft last week wasn’t her first this year, according to a report.

It was reported that Marsha Kearney, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rice, had been accused of swiping a parcel from her neighbor’s porch shortly after her son’s game at the weekend.

However, it had now been revealed that it wasn’t the first time Kearney has been accused of stealing.

She was arrested in spring and charged with one misdemeanor count of theft of property greater than or equal to $100 but less than $750, according to TMZ.

The arrest came after claims she took multiple household items from a man on March 27.
Kearney allegedly swiped 40 items, ‘including food, tumblers, laundry products, merchandise and socks.’

The case was ultimately dismissed on June 4 after Kearney appeared before a judge and completed unspecified conditions, a court official told TMZ.

Just three months later, Kearney has been accused of a similar incident. It emerged Wednesday evening that she nicked a parcel from her neighbor on Sunday.

Kearney was seen on a Ring doorbell camera sliding a parcel with her foot from a neighbor’s door before picking it up and walking off in footage obtained by TMZ .

The incident occurred last Sunday – just hours after the Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers.

In the video, a woman walks by the camera wearing a ‘Momma-Rice’ jersey with the No. 4 on it and looks right into the lens as she passes by.

Moments later, the woman returns and uses her foot to slide a package away from the door.

But unfortunately for her, while she thought she was out of the camera’s view, the woman is seen bending down to grab the package – lifting up a box and then walking away.

According to TMZ, the owner purchased two limited-edition vinyl Chappell Roan records from Urban Outfitters.

The rightful owner told the outlet that she attempted to resolve the issue with Kearney, Rice, and the apartment leasing office to try and get the items back without any luck.

Police have reportedly confirmed that a report had been filed on Wednesday regarding the theft and that an investigation is underway.

Rice was injured in the game on Sunday and had to be carted off the field due to a knee ailment that has been identified as a potential problem with his ACL.

Southern Charm’ alum Olivia Flowers is engaged to Alex Williams after….see more

Olivia Flowers is a bride-to-be!

The “Southern Charm” alum revealed her engagement to People on Thursday, with fiancé Alex Williams breaking down the New York City proposal.

After flying from their Texas home to South Carolina to ask permission from Flowers’ parents to marry her, he met her in Manhattan — where he got down on one knee on Sept. 25.

“I got her brand manager involved and made her think it was a photoshoot for the hotel,” Williams said of the milestone moment.
He is my biggest hype man when it comes to helping me with content so this didn’t seem weird to me, just like a sweet gesture,” Flowers told the outlet.

“I was in work mode,” the former reality star continued. “Next thing I know, Alex is getting a box out of his sports coat and dropping a knee.”
Flowers, who had been looking for the “best angles for photos in the room” dropped her phone when presented with a four-carat diamond engagement ring.

“Alex said, ‘Olivia Barbara Ellen Flowers. You’re the girl of my dreams. Became the love of my life. And I’d like to ask will you marry me?’” she recalled.

The duo met in May 2023, with Flowers sharing the story on their anniversary the following year.
After arriving late to a wedding (& tripping up the church stairs) I was met by a handsome usher to take me to my seat,” she wrote via Instagram in May. “Later, that same usher asked my date (my dad) if he could dance with me.”

The former Bravolebrity concluded, “A year later and we’re still dancing (and tripping up stairs). Cheers to stage 5 clinging.”
While Flowers was a cast member of “Southern Charm” when she and Williams crossed paths, she confirmed in July that she will not be appearing on its upcoming 10th season.
