USA tennis legend Serena Williams has offered her support to fellow American Caitlin Clark and advised her to keep up the good work.From one American athlete to another, the four-time Olympic champion explained how she relates to the 22-year-old basketball player, who is the centre of media attention at a young age due to her talent.
Asked by the Associated Press what advice she had for Clark, Williams said, “I just love that she tried to stay grounded and that she doesn’t look at her social [media]; I get it. I don’t either. And I think it’s so important to continue doing what she’s doing.No matter what other people do, if people are negative then it’s because they can’t do what you do. Hopefully she’ll continue to do what she’s doing.”
Recently, Clark missed out on the US women’s basketball squad for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 but has not been demotivated by the decision.She explained, “I think it just gives you something to work for. It’s a dream, hopefully one day I can be there. I think it’s just a little more motivation. You remember that.”
Williams competed in four Olympic Games during her illustrious tennis career, where she won gold in the women’s singles at London 2012 and the women’s doubles gold three times with her sister, Venus Williams.
