Jimmy Kimmel says new poll shows he’s more popular than Trump
On the October 6, 2025, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jimmy Kimmel opened his monologue by citing results from a YouGov poll that appeared to show he was more popular than President Donald Trump.
> “According to a new poll from YouGov — which is a serious polling site … or they were before this — I am more popular than the president of the United States,” he declared, to applause.
“They polled more than 1,000 people, and I lead Trump by 16 points.”
Kimmel broke down the poll results: of the respondents, 44% viewed Kimmel favorably, while 41% viewed him unfavorably, with about 15% undecided—giving him a net favorability of +3.
By contrast, 41% had a favorable view of Trump, 54% unfavorable, and only 5% undecided, giving Trump a net of –13.
Thus, Kimmel’s +3 vs. Trump’s –13 yields a 16‑point gap in favor of Kimmel.
Kimmel used the opportunity to take digs at Trump. He noted:
> “Considering the fact that I’m not a convicted felon friend of Jeffrey Epstein and I’ve never paid off a porn star or sent a team of masked goons into a park to pull an old lady away from her grandchildren, I feel like my rating should be higher — maybe?”
He also quipped: “At this point, finding a toenail in your salad has a seven-point lead over Donald Trump.”
Kimmel added a playful aside: “I really hope he doesn’t see this — I hate to, you know, I don’t like to upset him.”
He then read aloud a White House–style statement (attributed to spokesperson Anna Kelly) that mocked him:
> “Over 77 million Americans showed up on election day to cast their ballots for President Donald J. Trump, who is delivering on his overwhelming mandate to put America first. Jimmy Kimmel prays every night to garner a fraction of that support to keep his show on air after ratings dropped 64% last week. Sad!”
Kimmel responded, “I like Sad with an exclamation point,” joking that it “would make a nice T‑shirt with Trump’s face on it.”
He also threw shade by noting that Trump’s approval rating was even lower than that of “Diddy and diarrhea.”
This polling result and Kimmel’s monologue come after a brief suspension of his show in mid‑September, following comments he made about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
His show was reinstated after six days.
Since returning, Kimmel’s audience and his critiques of Trump have intensified, making the poll result and his public reaction a notable moment in their ongoing feud.
